Bu'n cynnal dosbarth arlunio dyfrlliw yn Y Groeslon ers 80au'r ganrif ddiwethaf, gan ddechrau yn y Church Rooms, yna symud i'r Ysgol Gynradd, cyn symud i'r Neuadd. Fe'i cynhelir pob nos Fercher, am 10 wythnos cyn ac ar ôl y Nadolig.
Dyma nodiadau a sgribliais wrth iddo ddangos i ni fel dosbarth sut i baentio tirlun mewn dyfrlliw … roedd yn argymell i ni ddefnyddio paent dyfrlliw Winsor and Newton (eu cyfres 'Artists' mewn tiwbiau) ar bapur Arches (o felin Canson yn Ffrainc) wedi ei 'stretchio' ymlaen llaw ar fwrdd pren. Roeddent ar gael y dyddiau hynny o siop Gray Thomas yng Nghaernarfon, ond erbyn heddiw (2013), ychydig iawn o siopau yn y gogledd sy'n arbenigo mewn offer peintio – gweler cyfeiriadau rhai cwmniau sy'n gwerthu ar y we isod.
Yr awyr – Ultramarine a sbot o Ddu a Light Red yn gysgod i'r cymylau; Light Red a Yellow Ochre ar y gorwel. Codi'r pant hefo brwsh glan i gael cwmwl.
Mynydd – Yellow Ochre a Hooker's Green (gwan), a Light Red ac Ultramarine fel cysgod (gwan); top y mynydd yn Ultramarine.
Coed – Cysgodion mewn Burnt Umber, reit gryf; a hefo'r Ultramarine i dywyllu.
Afon – Ultramarine ysgafn.
Coed (chwith) – Yellow Ochre a Cadmium Yellow dros y darnau tywyll.
Ochor dde – Ultramarine a Du (neu Payne's Gray), reit dywyll.
Creigiau mewn Hooker's a Light Red i fyny atynt; Coch yn rhedeg i mewn i'r Du a Yellow Ochre budur; ychydig o Gadmium iddo yma a thraw.
Coniffers – Ultramarine a Gwyrdd (chydig) – silhouettes yn unig.
Dwr – Ychwanegu Burnt Umber hefo brwsh mawr a Hooker's fel cysgod o dan y goeden ar y chwith ac Ultramarine cryfach yma ac acw.
Ynys – Yellow Ochre yn wlyb ac Ultramarine gwlyb tu ôl i'r coed.
Mynydd – Mwy o las.
Cerrig yn yr afon – Llwyd; Burnt Umber ac Ultramarine.
Ar y chwith – Reit dywyll.
O dan y coed – Cadmium a Hooker's.
Ynys – Hooker's a Yellow Ochre.
Coed (boncyffion) – Alizarin a Hooker's.
Wal – Llwyd.
Coed – Cadmium i fywiogi'r coed ar y chwith; Burnt Umber ac Ultramarine i dywyllu'r canghennau.
Gwaelod ar y chwith – Llwyd ysgafn.
Coniffers – Chydig o Light Red ar hyd y gwaelodion.
Coed ar y chwith – Wash o Burnt Umber drostynt.
Artist arall sy'n arbenigo mewn dyfrlliw yw Rob Piercy o Borthmadog. Bu'n athro celf yn Ysgol Eifionydd cyn ymddeol yn gynnar yn 1989 a mentro fel arlunydd proffesiynol gan arbenigo mewn darlunio mynyddoedd a thirluniau Eryri. Adlewyrchir ei ddiddordeb mewn dringo a mynydda yn ei luniau ac yn y gyfrol o'i eiddo, Mynyddoedd Eryri (Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, 2008). Cynhelir dwy brif arddangosfa ganddo yn flynyddol, un yn yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol a'r llall cyn y Nadolig yn ei Oriel ym Mhorthmadog.

Dyma ddywed un am ei gyfrol Eryri … Rob Piercy's paintings and notes are a most wonderful inspiration for anyone wishing to paint mountains and also a delight to those who love mountains, especially Snowdonia. His notes allow readers to imagine themselves to be experiencing the weather on the mountainside with him and perhaps to pluck up enough courage in the future to don warm clothing and paint in these cold conditions as he does and perhaps, with his paintings to guide them, to achieve good results. This is one of the best books I've ever bought.
Mae'n rhestru'r 5 lliw canlynol fel ei ffefrynnau … Cadmium Yellow, Cadmium Red, French Ultramarine, Monastial Blue a Burnt Umber.
Basic palette
6 primaries, 3 or 4 earths, a black (Ivory being the best on most counts) and a green (Viridian, best in tubes, tends to dry in pans). White is hardly necessary, especially if Bockingford or a hot-pressed sheet is used. Scraping can also be used, but check for staining. Mix browns and greys as a good practice.
3 primaries – Yellow (Winsor – pale yellow), Magenta (Permanent Magenta or Permanent Rose) and Cyan (Winsor – greenish blue).
Earth colours – have to be used if warm greys and subtle tones are required
Genuine earths – 3 pairs:
Ochre and its 'burnt' derivative – Light Red,
Umber – Raw and Burnt,
Sienna – Raw (transparent Yellow Ochre) and Burnt.
Adjusted, 4th: Terre Vert – interesting.
All other earth browns are derived from above, including Venetian Red, the modern mixed Sepia or the non-permanent Vandyck Brown.
Adding blues to earth colours produces a very satisfactory range of warm greys.
Neutral – if a warm blue is used with the only cool brown – Burnt Umber.
Clear – use 2 colours only.
